Order Up a Mess of Pulled Pork at Gert's BBQ

We were standing at the corner of 15th and East Pine the other night when we sniffed barbecue. We remembered suddenly that CHS had mentioned something about Gert's BBQ moving into the neighborhood--and there they were, in the parking lot across from Anchovies & Olives. We walked over to inspect the offerings, and ended up starting a dinner rush.

This is the same Gert's BBQ that we covered a little while ago down in Columbia City, and recommended to "fans of yum." We are happy to report we can back Seattlest James up on that.

Our first question was: "What's a DDOT?" The answer: a slider, with your choice of meat. We went the pulled pork direction, naturally. Our second question: "What's a GBC?" Answer: "Green bean casserole." Most of the menu runs $6-$8 for a meal, and there's a folding table if you want to attack the results without walking home. The salty, greasy fries taste like real potato. The GBC tastes like heaven. Two of the pulled pork sliders were enough for dinner, though you can--and we probably will--get three.

They're open for BBQ business Monday through Saturday from 7-11 p.m, says CHS. Follow Gert's on Twitter for updates.
