PONIES RUN THE MILE: Get ready for the horses to really run this Sunday, during the Emerald Downs' 74th Longacres Mile, which happens to be one of those "win and you’re in" races for the legendary Breeder’s Cup. So sure enough, you'll see some of the top horses and jockeys, including 2008 winner Jennifer Whitaker, riding Wasserman. Besides the horse racing, the official Railbird Rally tailgate begins at 10:30 a.m., which is another spectacle not to miss. Put on the fancy hats, heels, or seersucker and witness Washington Thoroughbred horse-racing history.

Races begin 2:00 p.m., The Mile runs 5:20 p.m., Sun. // Emerald Downs, 2300 Emerald Downs Drive // $5 Admission

MAKE ALKI BAREFOOT FRIENDLY: We have yet to see any surfers (or real waves for that matter) on Alki Beach, but technicalities aside, we are all about this Saturday's event--and afterparty--that brings the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project and Surfrider Foundation to Alki Beach, as part of a nationwide cleanup tour. Roll up your sleeves and join in (still time to RSVP!) as Beach Rescue Project takes over Alki Beach for one giant community-wide cleanup. Afterward, volunteers will be rewarded with an afterparty including some vino and bubbly, plus a private show by musician Mason Jennings at the Quicksilver store in Downtown Seattle.

Cleanup 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Celebration 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Sat. // West Seattle's Alki Beach, Alki Ave & 60th Ave // Cleanup free for all ages, celebration 21+

WALK AROUND THE ID: Make your way over to the Chinatown International District Saturday evening and join in the fun at SCIDpda's new Chinatown ID Art Walk. If you're not familiar with the neighborhood, this is the perfect chance to explore. Wander through the 15 art galleries and performances featuring local artists and don't forget to taste your way through the great (and cheap!) selection of tasty ethnic bites. We love pork buns. End the night with a free movie, Bride and Prejudice at Hing Hay Park.

5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Sat. // Chinatown International District // Free for all ages
