Since July, more than once we have seen larger-than-life sea creatures taking over news headlines. So far, we've learned of West Seattle's freakishly giant man-eating 8-foot, 100-pound squid, a dead whale found on the bow of a cruise ship in Vancouver, BC, and on Friday, a 46-foot-long juvenile fin whale. (It's the second-largest species of whale.) This last one was found dead after it was struck by a container ship in Tacoma. Oh, and that's not all, folks! Now, sharks (!!) have been spotted off the Oregon and Washington coastlines, lurking in the warmer waters and preying on seals and porpoises. And here we thought Shark Week was over. What has become of our once media-shy marine life?
