Can't Miss It: Monday

MY LIFE IS A MUSICAL: Regular karaoke not enough of a challenge for you? Head to the Rendezvous tonight for Cineoke, in which you sing along to your favorite scenes from musicals. Warm up with some Chicago, belt out The Sound of Music, and soon you'll be Singing in the Rain. Don't forget the jazz hands.

7-9:30 p.m. // Rendezvous Jewel Box Theater // 2322 2nd Ave // $5, 21+

PICK UP YOUR BANJO: Eight-time Grammy winner Béla Fleck has been nominated in more categories than anyone in the award's history, including jazz, country, classical, pop, bluegrass, and spoken word. The multi-instrumentalist plays a little bit of everything, but it's the banjo that he loves. The documentary Throw Down Your Heart--showing this week at the Northwest Film Forum--follows Fleck’s journey through Uganda, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Mali as he explores the African roots of his favorite instrument. Meanwhile, Béla is on hand at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley Monday and Tuesday playing with Mali's pre-eminent kora player, Toumani Diabaté. Béla Fleck plays two shows a night at Jazz Alley today and tomorrow; Throw Down Your Heart shows at the NWFF through Thursday.

7:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. // Dimitriou's Jazz Alley // 2033 6th Ave. // $35
7 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum // 1515 12th Ave. // $9

IT'S FOR THE DOLPHINS: The Cove is not for the faint of heart. Louie Psihoyos' unflinching environmental doc looks at the brutal fishing of dolphins in the tiny town of Taijii, Japan. At times it's less staid documentary and more of a spy thriller, as the filmmakers bring together a ragtag team of experts to infiltrate the titular locale and record the slaughter. Spoiler alert: The footage they end up getting is more horrific than anything a Saw writer could dream up.

4:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. // The Egyptian // 805 E Pine St // $7-9.50
