Happy Beer Hour, Part Two

Special to Seattlest by Paul Orch, craft beer advocate and writer.

BeerHead.jpg Over the past week, the Emerald City turned several hues of yellow and inspired numerous of its citizens to seek the comforts of air conditioning, ice cream, and of course good beer.

The common and flawed inspiration during these hell-like times is to grab a brew that rhymes with mud, killer, or sores, and on all counts you can do better. This week's happy hour craft beer providers involve a cherub, an elephant, and a detective story. As always if your favorite watering hole is not on here, speak up and we will get it posted.

Beveridge Place Pub, West Seattle ("Micro" Mondays 3 p.m. to close). Known for their willingness to accommodate man's other best friend, look to this alehouse with over 22 handles as a nice respite from the heat outside for you and your dog. Look out for $3 Red Dot pints and $12 pitchers.

Naked City Taphouse & Brewery, Greenwood. (Monday-Friday 4-7 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. - close) Feeding your love of classic films and cold beer will help you forget about that sunburn you got--enjoy a pint selected from over 23 beers, including their own Naked City Dubbel.

Big Time Brewery & Alehouse, University District (Tuesday 7-12 p.m. & Sunday 5-10 p.m.). Sporting approximately 11 beers on draft that you can enjoy in pitcher form for a buck (with a large special pizza purchase) on Sundays or in a pint glass on Tuesdays (5-7 p.m.) that you can take home later without the risk of a petty theft charge.

Still have yet to be to the Beveridge Place. Heard nothing but good things and a lot of friends go there regularly (consensus: previous location was more loved). Damn you West Seattle!
