Can't Miss It: Monday

TheRumble_AUGUST.jpg

PIZZA, COMEDY, AND KIDDOS: This month's Pagliacci comedy night is headlined by Derek Sheen, known for his heavy metal, pop culture, sci-fi, and comic book humor. Hellooooo, nerds! While usual host PRoK's Emmett Montgomery is enjoying his honeymoon, Paul Merrill takes over MC duties, and joining Paul on stage are his two sons Charlie (3) and James (7). Because nothing says comedy like some dude's kids.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMMBBBBLE: Future Sounds has been throwing monthly party The Rumble in Los Angeles and New York for over a year, and now they're expanding to Portland, San Diego, and Seattle. Tonight's inaugural event features The Blakes, U.S.E., and Battle Hymns. That's quite the lineup for only $5.

9 p.m. // The Croc // 2200 2nd Ave // $5, 21+

FOR BRITISH EYES ONLY: In the only James Bond film with George Lazenby, On Her Majesty's Secret Service features Bond teaming up with Diana Rigg of The Avengers to take down Telly Savalas in the Swiss Alps. Our mind is blown. On Her Majesty's Secret Service shows at the NWFF through Thursday.

9 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum // 1515 12th Ave. // $9

Some dude?

Wow. Can I put that on my resume?

Sure, Paul. You may put it right next to the NYT calling you "a 34-year-old stand-up comedian."

James' age corrected, but you might want to pass the word on to Pagliacci's since I got the info directly from them.

I know--that NYT quote is pretty impressive, eh? It's press like that which allows me to earn well over $100 a year doing comedy. I will proudly add yours to my wall of obscure quotes about me.

Hope to see you at the show (although I wouldn't blame anyone for going to see "On Her Majesty's Secret Service").

Also, James is 7, not 9, for those keeping score.
