Why Not Go for a Sail on Lake Union?

Last night's Duck Dodge on Lake Union--a proudly tipsy 35-year tradition--was especially busy thanks to the heat wave. More water cannons and water balloons were in evidence than usual, too.

For me I'm not sailing this week because there is probably no wind. :)

There's a stagnant air warning this week, so was there actually any wind last night? Seems unlikely. From the pics it looks like the sails were under minimal to zero power, and likely some boats were under motor power. I see some people were hanging out on deck playing drums, so that also is an indicator there was no wind. That's cool - I have no problem with partying on boats, but you can do that on motorboats too. To me sailing is only worth it when there is wind.

jdavin: actually, there was plenty of wind last night--I just happened to be working the jib, so when it was blowing I didn't have a hand free for photos. We were scooting right along most of the night.

Oh, cool... maybe I'll get over to the lake later this week.
