Fact: We'd intended all season to go to last night's Storm/Sparks game at KeyArena.
Why? The Storm/Sparks rivalry is one of the better ones in Northwest sports, neither team seeming to like the other overmuch (during last year's playoff series, a Sparks win, then L.A. coach Michael Cooper called the Storm "not that good.")
Still, we failed miserably, making plans for Wednesday night, then completely spacing that the game was on at all. Lord, did we foul up.
All we missed was perhaps the most dramatic local sports event of the year, a three-overtime classic that included a team-record seven three pointers from Sue Bird, an ejection for Lauren Jackson, and twelve lead changes.
The game ended as a 98-87 Storm victory. Combined with Phoenix's loss to Minnesota, the Storm pulled within one game of PHO for the Western Conference lead, and stayed one game ahead of the Lynx.
For those 7,154 who did manage to see the game last night: we envy you deeply.
The Storm won't play again until Tuesday, as the WNBA enters their All-Star break. The All-Star game, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on ABC, will include three Storm starters for the Western Conference--Bird, Jackson, and Swin Cash.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

Seth, you did miss some amazing basketball last night. But you also missed three quarters of crap where Seattle couldn't hit a shot to save their lives. The defense was pretty good and was consistent, which was nice, but offense was embarassing except for Tanisha. It was nice to see LJ scoring a few more points than she has in recent games, but she's still not playing up to her potential. And can ANYONE explain to me why Suzy never plays? I'm told she's an amazing player but Agler almost never puts her in.
