- Delicious pix of the last time Seattle had rail over at Vintage Seattle.
- CHS talks about the newest threat to Capitol Hill: a mysterious wizard who abandons scarves in trees.
- The Magnolia SummerFest is greening up this year, and also needs volunteers.
- Cliff Mass with more drought info: May 20 through July 19 is the driest period for Seattle-Tacoma on record. He writes: "This is really an extraordinary drought we are in. And the surface "fuels" are tinder-dry in eastern Washington and in the Cascades." Alas, it sounds as though we'll be reporting extensively on wildfires next month.
- Fremont Universe has a nice set of photos of Jeff Dowd, the inspiration for "the Dude," receiving the key to the neighborhood earlier this week as part of Lebowski Fest.
- Seattle911 reports a murder-suicide at the Ft. Lewis PX. Also: News Tribune has much more info.
- Sadly, two plus two was put together for us by Misha Berson at the Seattle Times: the cancellation of previews for 5th Avenue's Catch Me If You Can (we reported yesterday; two more are canceled now) is due to the horrible South Park murder. Norbert Leo Butz plays one of the two leads in the show (the FBI agent Tom Hanks played in the 2002 film). His sister Teresa Butz was the victim of Sunday's tragedy, when she and her partner were assaulted in the early morning hours. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all involved. Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. a vigil will be held at the South Park Community Center, where you can show your support.
