TWEETING OURSELVES TO DEATH: It’s as if we live in two Americas, says Pulitzer Prize-winner Chris Hedges. Well, we're told that's what he says. One is a print-based, literate world that can cope with complexity and separate fact from fiction. The other is made up of simpletons who think the universe is telling them secrets. That's the bigger group, interestingly. Hedges, author of Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle, investigated professional wrestling, porn, and and Ivy League graduation ceremonies to "chronicle the terrifying spiral of a dying culture." Sounds fun, huh? Also, kids are playing on your lawn.

Liebert has just released his new album Spanish Sun (with Jon Gagan on bass and Stephen Duros on electric guitar). Here's a review of Liebert's previous Scent of Light album. And here's his diary.
