Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition July 17-19

MARYMOOR IT UP: Crazy hot concerts at Marymoor this weekend! Tonight, hyper-literate prog-indie Portland kids the Decemberists with Andrew Bird and Blind Pilot; Saturday and Sunday, Death Cab with Ra Ra Riot and the New Pornographers.

6 p.m. doors all days // Concerts at Marymoor // 6046 W. Lake Sammamish Parkway // tix $35

MO' MOE: John Moe, former Seattleite, NPR personality and wannabe conservative, manages to do quite a lot. For instance, we just discovered that he's also in a chicken-themed rock band called Chicken Starship, who, as it happens, are playing the Funhouse tonight. Go fig.

9:30 p.m. // Funhouse // 206 Fifth Ave. // $6

URBAN NATURALISM: David B. Williams is an "urban naturalist" who works to make people see the nature in the most seemingly unnatural of places: the city. In 2005's Street-Smart Naturalist, Williams led readers through the hidden natural worlds of Seattle's urban ecosystems. In his new book, Stories in Stone, Williams uncovers the geological history of the stone building blocks of contemporary American cities. After a brief talk, he'll be leading his audience on a tour of downtown Seattle illustrating his point, so be sure to show up on time.

Saturday, 10:30 a.m. // Elliott Bay Book Co. // 100 S. Main St. // free!
