Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, a 20-year-old British woman, steps away from her apartment, noticed a man had been following her. At the corner of 10th Avenue East and East Highland Drive, the attacker pulled a knife and lunged for her purse, cutting both the purse strap and the woman's wrist. Moments later, the victim flagged down a nearby police car, alerting them of the robbery and the fleeing assailant. A police pursuit ensued, although it ended without finding the suspect.
Over at the CHS blog, they were able to get firsthand accounts (via Facebook) from witnesses who helped the young woman after the attack.
She wasn't going to die from that cut, but there was blood spattered all over, a knife laying a few feet away and the cut wasn't helping her keep her composure any. Overall I think she was handling herself pretty damn well.
The victim, taken to the hospital for her injuries, may also need to reconsider a few certain friendships moving forward. The same CHS witness stated:
I used it to hold the bloody cell phone she handed me, so I could call her friends. One after another, her friends weren't there.
Police are still on the look out for the suspect, described as a black male, 6′ tall, short hair, wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.

Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday

The UK is like 8 hours ahead of us, her friends should definitely be picking up if it's 10am their time.
I would assume this good samaritan was calling 206 numbers.
I assumed incorrectly that my comment was an obvious joke.
