- Friday evening, Fremont was overtaken by 5,000 zombies. The mass flash mob of the living dead mashed world records and made little children cry.
- Naturally, the Fourth of July holiday brought illegal fireworks and even firework explosions that got a bit out of hand, not including the pitched battle on a Westlake dock provoked by foul-mouthed partiers.
- Seattle snakes have their own safe haven on Beacon Hill. In a first for the city, all garter snakes are welcome in the city's first public rock pile, also called a herpetarium.
- Over the weekend, tucked away up in the North Cascades near Twisp, nearly 250 fairies emerged--wings, horns, glitter, and all--held hands, danced and celebrated the annual Fairy and Human Relations Congress.
