Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition July 3-5

ZOMBIES WALK AGAIN!: First it was zombies on Cap Hill and now the streets of Fremont are expected to be littered with the living dead at Fremont Outdoor Film's Red White & Dead Zombie Party. They will be assembling record-breaking zombie masses (anyone can join), in an attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for largest walking zombie mob. Afterward, the gruesome group will meet zombie book authors, listen to zombie bands, try to dance like the zombies in "Thriller" and watch the romantic zombie comedy film,"Shaun of the Dead."

6:30 p.m. walk, 9:45 p.m. movie, Fri. // Fremont Outdoor Film, 3501 Phinney Ave. N. // Tickets: $5 donation

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA: Well, Seattle it looks like you will have your Fourth of July fireworks show after all. Now you'll just have to brave the cluster of 50,000 people expected to show for this year's only--yes, just one, single, lonely--fireworks display held at Gas Works Park. The Chase Family 4th--Chase is the new holiday host--will begin celebrating early in the day with kiddie activities, a street scramble and an adult beer garden. Wherever you plan to watch this year's fireworks, the big oooohs and aaaaahs will come at 10 p.m. when the pyrotechnics will begin lighting up the Seattle skyline.

10 p.m., Sat. // Gas Works Park, 2101 N Northlake Way // Free

WOODEN BOAT BONANZA: Throw on your captain's hat and stroll on down to the waterfront to check-out the annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival. It's one giant wooden boat extravaganza! Held at the Center for Wooden Boats, you'll have a chance to listen to live music, watch onshore demos (rope fender making!) and lust after and catch a ride on some of the most beautiful wooden sail, steam, electric and power driven vessels. Even the little skippers can come out too--kids can build and sail their very own toy boats. Plus, it's fun to say schooner. Say it, schooooo-ner.

10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat. & Sun. // The Center for Wooden Boats,1010 Valley Street // Suggested Donation: $5 person, $10 family
