Gas Works Firework Show Must Go On, Despite Lawsuit

As if one cancelled fireworks show this year wasn't bad enough. One unpatriotic son-of-a-gun and environmental activist is suing the City of Seattle to stop this year's Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show at Gas Works Park. Don't you want to see the Chase Family 4th try to top the now defunct WaMu's past shows? His rant: the city's alleged failure to do an environmental assessment. The city's rebuttal: no need, for a one-time event on city property. May we suggest another tactic: LEAVE. Here is a far-from-Seattle firework-free weekend retreat.

This guy is Ben Schroeter who was also a part of the NIMBY group that blocked the summer nights concert series from setting up at gas works after getting bounced from the pier downtown

I hate NIMBYs. Move to Enumclaw

I went to college with that guy. Even back then, 20 years ago, he was protesting anything and everything he could think of.

He's really not interested in accomplishing anything, just stirring up trouble.

I posted this on the other piece about the Colbert Report:

Hallelujah Stephen Colbert for saying what most PC Seattleites are too wimpy to say! When one individual can ruin everything for the rest of us, it's a sign that the system is seriously broken. I've often wondered why larger groups of people can't simply countersue idiots and just shut them down quicker than the courts. As much as individual rights are important, the cornerstone of democracy is based on majority rule in BALANCE with individual rights. Seems the scales have been gradually tipping too far the other way for a while now and before we can realize it, we'll be sitting at a complete standstill in Seattle (and everywhere else) because someone somewhere disagrees with something.
