Can't Miss It: Monday

JUST LIKE A DREAM: In a Dream chronicles the life of artist Isaiah Zegar and his wife Julia, both his mosaic art and their family life. The documentary is directed by their son Jeremiah, and he pulls no punches in showing how his father's obsessive, creative mind took its toll on his family. The intimate, emotional film has won awards from festivals as diverse as SXSW, the Philadelphia Film Festival, and the San Francisco Documentary Festival. In a Dream screens at the NWFF through Thursday.

7 p.m., 9 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum // 1515 12th Ave. // $9

NEVER PISS OFF MOTHER EARTH: If you're not already going to the Norman Ollestad talk about his survivor skills, head to Town Hall to find out if humans have a chance to survive our impending environmental doom. In The Vanishing Face of Gaia, scientist James Lovelock argues that the earth is lurching closer to a permanent "hot state" much more quickly than most specialists think. Turns out there's nothing we can do to reverse the process; the world is simply too overpopulated to stop or even slow its own destruction by greenhouse gases. In order to survive, mankind must start preparing now for life on a radically changed planet. Gulp.

7:30 p.m. // Town Hall // 1119 8th Ave. // $5

GO FULL REATARD: The Orb cancelled their show at the Showbox and Ben Kweller will most assuredly be cute at Chop Suey, but for our money, the best show of the night is Jay Reatard at the Croc. The prolific Reatard makes super-catchy garage rock, such that the LA Times has dubbed him "the king of the rock and roll single." He's got a new full-length album--his first since 2006--Watch Me Fall, coming out in August, so we're sure he'll be playing a bunch of his new stuff tonight. For a preview, check out Track 1, "It Ain't Gonna Save Me" [mp3].

9 p.m. // The Crocodile // 2200 2nd Ave // $12, 21+
