Seattle Mariner Brandon Morrow will miss his own bobblehead day while he figures out what he wants to do with the rest of his life.
A starting pitcher in college, Morrow became a reliever at the M's request. But he said he wanted to start, so late last season the M's let him. Then, this spring, Morrow claimed he'd decided on a career in the bullpen, and the M's complied.
But now, after struggling in relief, Morrow's told the team he wants to be a starter again.
Watch out, Rick the Peanut Man--Morrow could be coming for your job next.
What in the poo is going on here? Seattlest David has a theory: "Maybe Brandon Morrow isn't really a player. Maybe he was this experimental comedian at Cal and convinced the Mariners that they should draft him, and then spend the next twenty years switching him back and forth between the bullpen and rotation. If I'm right this is some real Andy Kaufman stuff."
In other M's employee news, Yuniesky Betancourt has ridden the pine for four straight days, and didn't endear himself to M's bosses when he failed to show for early batting practice.
Betancourt's excuse? "I was asleep on the plane when they announced that," he told TNT's Larry LaRue.
An anonymous Mariner has apparently had enough, telling LaRue: "You can't play a guy who doesn't work hard on a team where everyone else busts their ass. I don't know why this never happened before, but no one in this clubhouse has any doubts about why it's happened now."
Hard to say what's going on in M's-land. Maybe it's time for a team-building trip to Laser Quest?

This is why ballplayers should travel by train, LIKE THEY USED TO!
Betancourt is a terrible fielder and should ride the pine back to the Minors. I watched him drop a grounder in practice and then do the EXACT same bumble in the game that night against the Angels.
Betancourt flashed some leather tonight. And he had a ribbie. He's not perfect, but he's the best the M's have got. If Cedeno could hit even the Mendoza line, he'd probably start, but .147 ain't gonna get it done.
