Can't Miss It: Tuesday
FIND OUT ABOUT FOUND: We've been big fans of the magazine FOUND for a couple years now, so when we heard that main Found(ers) Davy and Peter Rothbart were coming back again this year on tour, we were pretty damn excited. Touring to help celebrate the release of their brand new book, Requiem for a Paper Bag, the Rothbart brothers will be featuring the latest found stories that have made their way into the FOUND headquarters mailbox, along with found stories from celeb contributors to the book such as Seth Rogen, Chuck D., Sarah Vowell, and David Simon--who we're extra curious to see if his found business is anything Wire-like or not. Peter will also be on-hand to sing "breathtaking" (their words not ours) songs from the latest FOUND notes, and they hint at possible surprise guests.
8 p.m. // The Crocodile, 2200 2nd Avenue // Tickets: $5 at the door, 21+
SMOKIN' READING: Julie Reinhardt is touring with her book She-Smoke: A Backyard Barbecue Book just in time for exactly that--the season of backyard barbecuing. So how exactly did Reinhardt gain these skills that are usually dedicated to a "male-only" American pastime? Well, besides the fact that she is the co-owner of Ballard's Smokin' Pete's BBQ, she's worked in the food industry most of her life, from the lowly position of dishwasher up to catering director, and has even cooked for rock stars (so her website says). Regardless, the lady loves talking about pork butt and all the little dirty tricks you can do with it. Though She-Smoke contains loads of recipes, her recipes can also be found on her smokin' blog.
7-9 p.m.// Third Place Books, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park // Tickets: FREE
YOU'RE UP!: If, like us, you haven't gotten out yet to see Up (though it's on the short list), then maybe today is just the day for it. If you're thinking about going, why not think about seeing it in 3D? We've been hearing about this movie nonstop on NPR for weeks now, and oddly enough, we haven't seen a single commercial on TV for it. Maybe that adds to the mystique, but regardless, we hear that no matter how macho you think you are, you'll probably cry or at least tear up (ladies, leave the mascara at home), and that this latest Pixar movie is absolutely not to be missed. That, and the fact that Ed Asner is awesome and can't go wrong playing a grumpy old man.
Times // AMC Pacific Place, 600 Pine Street // Tickets: Up to $13.50, including $3 3D glasses
