Can't Miss It: Tuesday

HAPPY HOUR, ANYONE?: Sound Magazine invites you to join in on the fun at their happy hour extravaganza tonight at the Highway 99 Blues Club in honor of their new June issue. The first 50 people to get in the door will receive free drink tickets compliments of Miller Lite, and your favorite Sound staffers will be on hand. There will be plenty of free copies of the latest issue if you have yet to snag one, and plenty of time to schmooze it up with the writers, photographers, and editors of the Northwest's finest music magazine. So bring your feedback, story ideas, questions, or accusations, and get ready to get down with Sound for some Tuesday night awesomeness.

6-9 p.m. // Highway 99 Blues Club, 1414 Alaskan Way // FREE, 21+

BRAIN CANDY: It's Seattlest's once-a-month trivia night at Ballard's Old Pequliar, and as for themes this month, James recommends dragging your film-loving friend away from SIFF just long enough for trivia, because you may need him or her. He also hints to all you retro video game lovers--this could be your night to lead the team to a shining victory; you've been warned. So arm yourself with either or both of those characters and you may just go down in Seattlest trivia history, along with winning a nice chunk of cash. If you're new to the circuit, we will also warn--it's good to get there early to sign up, and even earlier for seats--they go quick.

8 p.m. // Old Pequliar, 1722 NW Market St. // $5 (team of 5), $7 (team of 6), 21+

SEATTLE MYSTERIES AT THEIR FINEST: Some might believe that Seattle is too nice for noir but that is not the case! Seattle was named "Rat City" for a reason, and as proven by the latest anthology Seattle Noir, Seattle's got some great fictitious skeletons in its closet, reminiscent of its history filled with lumberjacks, rowdy saloons, and cobblestone streets filled with seaport men. Elliott Bay Book Company, along with the Seattle Public Library Fiction Department and Akashic Press, presents a reading from the latest anthology that originated in Brooklyn, with great local writers/contributors such as: Kathleen Alcalá, Brian Thornton, Thomas Hopp, and more.

7 p.m. // Seattle Central Public Library, 1000 Fourth Ave // FREE (on first-come, first-serve basis)
