There is a Seattle team in a championship series [insert twenty minutes of laughter]. No really [insert two hours of stunned silence].
The University of Washington softball team, led by known Canadian Danielle Lawrie, will face the perennial NCAA Champions in everything University of Florida Gators in a best two-out-of-three series starting tonight.
Yesterday the Huskies beat Georgia on the second try, and the Gators beat Alabama on a walk off grand slam, holy crap.
The Husky softball team has been a consistent power since its inception in the 1990s, making the championship game in 1996 and 1998--however, they have never won the title.
UDub won a Volleyball championship in 2005, a Cross Country National championship in 2008, and the 1960 football championship in 2007.
Game 1 Tonight, Game 2 Tuesday, and Game 3 (if necessary) Wednesday. All games are at 5 p.m. on ESPN 2.
UPDATE: Thanks to the commenters for pointing out that the Huskies have won several rowing championships, and of course the 1991 football championship which will be turning twenty in a couple years [insert two more hours of stunned silence].

You forgot to mention the ridiculous amount of NCAA championships that UW has won in rowing.
Not to mention, football '91.
he mentioned those.
with his eyes.
Doesn't Florida already dominate enough sports? Throw us a bone here!
Poor choice of art. Burt Reynolds played football...for the Florida State Seminoles. The movie is called Gator, but he's a 'Nole.
