- Today, one of Seattle's finest spellers felt the heat of competition during the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Lakeside Middle Schooler, Eleanor Runde made it to the semifinals, but was taken down in the fifth round by: e-p-i-c-r-i-s-i-s.
- This week Phinneywood blog has reported a string of food-oriented criminal acts, including a recent break-in at Phinney Market and even an armed robbery(!) at Oliver Twist last night.
- The "No Parking" signs have gone up around West Seattle's Alki Beach as they gear-up for Sunday's car-free Seattle Summer Streets shin-dig.
- Early this morning police found a woman's body on I-5 near SoDo, officials are still uncertain of how she ended up finding her untimely fate.
- Oh, to be a fly on the wall tonight, when the parks and rec. folks meet-up with the city's planning and developing types to discuss a plan to tear up five blocks of Belltown. The plan would take Bell Street down to one lane between First and Fifth Ave. and replace the other part of the street with trees, shrubbery and we hope lawn gnomes.
- There goes Ballard, bragging up a storm about how they are one of the best neighborhoods in America. Psshhh what-eve-er. We love you Ballard, but think the other 'hoods may contest that call.
