Case of the Missing Sculpture Park "E"

During our jog around the Olympic Sculpture Park, we noticed that our favorite art piece was strangely grammatically incorrect. The park's Love & Loss work of art was missing the cute "e" table. We chatted it up with the security guard, who said the tabletop "e" had suffered from wear and tear, plus it had also been a victim of some recent vandalism. Currently the "e" is in the fine artistic hands at SAM being refurbished and getting a brand spankin' new protective coating put on. We hope to get our Love back in a few weeks--until then we'll be at a Loss.

Anyone ever read "A Void" by Georges Perec, if I remember correctly? Originally written in French, it does not contain the letter 'e'. Nor does the English version. A tough read, but I learned the meaning of many cool words there, such as quiddity and grampus.

The letter "e" is also missing from my library copy of Gadsby by Ernest Vincent Wright. Same culprit?
