Folklife in Under Five Minutes

On our way to a festival film at SIFF Cinema, we took a brief tour through Folklife. Five minutes was more than enough.

We like humor...when it's actually funny.

  • We don't like humor in this city. Nor guns. Get out.

Why so negative? What's the point of taking the time to post this article & photos when all you're doing is bashing the people who wanted to be there? Seems like a waste of time to me, and it just makes you look like a jerk.

You're right, Audrey, music festivals should only allow in people who can afford their overpriced tickets and only feature hipster bands, because only KEXP listeners deserve to enjoy live music in the sun.

Personally, I say kudos to all the performers at Folklife - it's nice to hear something other than another Killers knockoff band - and even bigger kudos to the organizers for making the festival open to people of all income levels.

  • I might be more daring than some, lasted 8 1/2 hours with no gunfire, though someone did pop a balloon very loudly. . . seemed in poor taste.

Yeah, five minutes is typically enough. I like wandering a bit more and I'll likely go back (it's all of three blocks away!), but after a while it's too much.

Then again, most of these festivals all run together anyway. The same food carts will be at the Center for the next big thing, I recognized a lot of the vendors from the U District Streetfair and if it wasn't them, it was someone offering the same merch. Batik and bad incense as far as the eye can see!
