Oops! Man Falls Through Sidewalk in Downtown Seattle

Shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, fire fighters were sent to the rescue of a 68-year-old man who fell into a hole after the sidewalk caved in beneath him, near the Washington Street boat pier. The man is reported to be uninjured but trapped, possibly between concrete slabs, officials said. Rescue crews are working on stabilizing the 3x3-foot-wide hole before they begin to pull the man out. UPDATE: Rescued!

Now, enjoy American soft rock icon James Taylor singing "Down in a Hole."

Fixed and updated! Thanks, Troy.

That clip is annoying. Why do people go to concerts and then spend the whole time talking through the performance? I mean, if you're not a JT fan why are you there at all?

I was once hightailing on foot through the intersection of Blanchard and Elliot with my destination (foot bridge, I believe) in my sights in the distance. As I was rounding the corner, cutting across the intersection in the middle of the street, my right foot felt a depression that I hadn't expected. I noticed then that I almost fell into an unmarked open manhole cover. I was *this* close! Fortunately, after a call to 911, the city was there promptly to patch it up before any other aloof idiot inadvertently decided to explore underground SEA.
