Can't Miss It: Tuesday

BURLESQUE ON THE BIG SCREEN: Northwest Film Forum will be showing A Wink and a Smile only until the 21st, so if you're interested in learning more about the lives of some of Seattle's finest burlesque dancers, we encourage you to get out and see it before it's too late! The documentary follows ten ordinary women attending Miss Indigo Blue's six-week program at the Seattle Academy of Burlesque, where they are transformed from their daily lives into beautiful bombshells who are not afraid to show off their skills and new-found empowerment.

This amazing all-women ensemble strives to create new and diverse audiences for chamber music--and besides playing in well-known stoic venues such as the Lincoln and Kennedy Centers, they have played everywhere from local soup kitchens to schools and libraries. This deal is also limited to two tickets per order, and balcony seating is subject to availability. OFFER ENDS AT NOON, so git r done!

CONSUMERS AT THEIR FINEST: Geoffrey Miller will be speaking about the science behind his latest book, Spent: Sex, Evolution, and Consumer Behavior. Miller, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of New Mexico, has taken consumer culture to an all-new height, revealing the hidden factors that dictate what we buy whether it be a tube of lipstick, a new CD, or a brand new car. Miller analyzes and deciphers what our decisions say about us, how we can improve our good ol' capitalist American ways, and possibly even become life-long better citizens.
