"Dumb, Getting Dumber" Tonight at Pacific Science Center

Mooneybook.jpg Tonight protons and electrons will be flying as the Northwest Science Writers Association and Pacific Science Center host a scientifically-charged event titled "Dumb, Getting Dumber?"

Chris Mooney, author of the book Unscientific America, claims that our future and economic potential are in real jeopardy thanks to society's scientific ignorance.

Supporting (or challenging) Mooney's position will be a panel of local scientists and other science-smart geeks including: Tom Clement, chair, Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association; Dennis Schatz, science educator, Sandra Archibald, dean of the University of Washington's Evans School; and Stephen Jones, wheat scientist, Washington State University. The panelist will dive into discussions with the author over a variety of topics from the basic fundamentals of science, evolution, climate change and the economic variables that come from the advancement (or lack) of science discovery.

7-9 p.m. // Eames Theater, Pacific Science Center, 200 2nd Ave N // Free and open to the public
