AUSTIN CITY SHIMMY: Bob Schneider made our sister site Austinist's highlight reel for SXSW back in March--winner of the SXSW Band of the Year and Best Male Vocalist awards, Schneider is touring for his new album Tarantula. Country, roots-rock, call it what you will, just don't expect a 45-minute set. With 15 or so albums to draw from, Schneider has more songs up his sleeve than a double-sided LP. Plus, he's at the Triple Door, so you can just sit back and make yourself comfortable.
7:30 p.m. // Triple Door, 216 Union Street // Tickets: $22
YOUNG RUSSIANS: The UW School of Music presents Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. Based on Alexander Pushkin's poem, the tragic opera requires you put on your Russian hat to enjoy it--there's a ton of world-weary ennui, unrequited love, confessional letters, and a duel between best friends. On the other hand, how often to you have a reason to wear your Russian hat? You paid good money for it! And the students are actually close to the age of their characters, so that's always fun.
7:30 p.m. // Meany Theater, University of Washington // Tickets: $15-$25
BIG GREEN DREAMS: Are you read to get sustainable? Sustainable Path has called upon a dynamic duo to talk smart community design, green building, and energy research. Alan Thein Durning, founder and executive director of Seattle’s Sightline Institute, and Cascadia Region Green Building Council CEO Jason F. McLennan are going to talk about what's going on in the Northwest--which, by the way, is not a completely heartening tale of progressive enlightenment, despite all those Priuses you see.
Reception 5:30 p.m., seminar 6:30-8 p.m. // Town Hall, 8th & Seneca // $15 at the door

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

That is so great that mentioned Bob Schneider. He is amazing live. And there are sing along songs that you will learn and love (such as Tarantula!) He plays the Triple Door tomorrow night too. He also prefers classy venues over shitty venues so catch him at this classy one!
