Can't Miss It: Monday

MONKEYSHINES: We were going to suggest you go see Chris Cornell at the Showbox SoDo, but it's sold out. So instead we'll remind you that you have until May 10 to catch the Curious George-inspired exhibit at the Children's Museum, Let's Get Curious! Is it an egregious example of product placement? Whatever, we just like it, to paraphrase Liz Lemon. Not to overshare, but Curious George was easily the most appealing character we remember coming across in our toddling era. Oh, that monkey!

10 a.m.-5 p.m. // the Children's Museum, Seattle Center House // Admission: $7.50

SHOEGAZING: By contrast, the My Bloody Valentine show at WaMu Theater doesn't look to be sold out. If you're a fan, you need no introduction. If you're curious, like George, expect "crushingly loud, shimmering distortion." Their reappearance after almost 20 years of not being MBV has got Pitchfork all gaga. So it's a big event, and a curious monkey like yourself will probably want to see what it's all about, if you have an extra $40 you're doing nothing with.

8 p.m. (doors 6:30 p.m.) // WaMu Theater, 1000 Occidental Avenue South // Tickets: $38.50 (plus fees)

WORDSMITHERY: Okay. So how about a class in writing poetry for beginners? You'll read poets like Pablo Neruda, William Carlos Williams and Nikki Giovanni for inspiration, and "focus on imagery, sound and rhythm as well as the poem's 'voice' to get started in crafting a poem." We suggest one about a curious monkey taking a poetry writing class! Your teacher is Ann Teplick: a poet, playwright and prose writer with an MFA in creative writing from Vermont College. We should mention that everyone in Vermont has an MFA in creative writing--it's a state requirement.

5:30-7:30 p.m. // Seattle Public Library, University Branch, 5009 Roosevelt Way NE // FREE with registration (call 206-684-4063)
