Tom is off on a long weekend luxuriating at McMenamin's Edgefield Manor, just outside of Portland. On the way, a stop will be in Centralia to massacre delicious lunch at Berry Fields Cafe and tip a hat to the styrofoam house. On the way back, a stop will be made at The Spar for some wilted spinach salad, among other things. In between those? Probably some amazing sitting on verandas, light reading, and insane doughnuts.
Jay is looking at Tom's food-filled weekend with jealousy and admiration. But he'll be enjoying some restaurant-hopping of his own, with stops at Barrio, Maneki, Ponti, and one other place TBD.
Ronald expects to cross paths with Jay at Ponti, and plans to check out the new wine bar in Bellevue, Grand Cru, as well.
Kim P. is going to lose her voice this weekend. Saturday morning, she will be cheering very loud for UW's rowing teams as they race against top-ranked Cal crew on Montlake Cut. Then she'll continue to annihilate the rest of her vocal chords at the Sounders Game. Sunday will be spent silent.
Jack will be spending the weekend in his work scrubs. On Saturday, he's helping make safety improvements to an elderly woman's house in South Seattle with Rebuilding Together Seattle. The rest of the weekend he'll be working on his own house which generally includes drinking beer and cussing at his tools.
MvB is going to see Spectrum Dance Theater at the Moore on Saturday night (works by Donald Byrd, Gus Solomons, Jr., and Merce Cunningham). Sunday comes with a little Zizek on top, with a screening of Examined Life at the NW Film Forum.
John's girlfriend is doing her own thing this weekend which pretty much frees him up for dive bar debauchery. Steer clear of Ballard Saturday night if you want to avoid his shady gaze and uncertain stagger.
