Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition April 24-26
BALLET (PREL-jzoh-cahjz): Not your average night at the ballet, as the evocative Ballet Preljocaj (choreographed by company founder Angelin Preljocaj) company will perform Les 4 Saisons--a UW World Series debut. Choreographed to the bright and rhythmic music from Vivaldi, Les 4 Saisons provides a playful, colorful, and unconventional interpretation through dance.
8 p.m., Friday & Saturday // Meany Hall, University of Washington // Tickets: $42; $39 subscribers; $20 students
TAX-FREE SALVATION: Hearing voices lately? Do shoes speak to you? Listen closely as 30 stores at the West Seattle Junction (shoe stores included) will be giving you a day of tax-free shopping. Those rebels, it's like you're in Oregon, but you're not. Seeking some shopping solace and you don't do bridges? The water taxi can get you there, too. Follow the red balloons and you'll find yourself a tax-free deal or two. Be sure to talk to the shoes, they get cranky when left alone.
9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Saturday // The Junction, Downtown West Seattle // FREE, unless you buy something
OYSTER LOVE: Here is the perfect chance to get your bivalve fix, at the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance's 2nd Annual Oyster Roast. Slurp, suck or skittishly chew and swallow--your call--but dig in. The oysters will be cooked Southern-style, leaving you to do the dirty work once they get their juices start bubbling out. If you need a breather, find some carbs (or the raw oyster bar!) and hear the music of Ballard's Tall Boys.
Two seatings Sunday, 2-4 p.m., 5-7 p.m. // Golden Gardens Bathhouse, 8498 Seaview Ave. NW // Tickets: $50
