Can't Miss It: Wednesday

Tesla.jpeg EARTH DAY: The UW's Green Coalition invites you out to the campus today for some live music, a gallery of environmental art, a zero-emissions electric car show, a social on the Lake Washington waterfront, and a presentation about sustainable business practices from Jerry Heinlen of Yakima Products to be followed by the movie The Eleventh Hour. Don't worry--there's more earthy doings on tap if you can't make that.

THE DADA FLU: Over at Town Hall, choose between a talk on influenza and immunology (which is not subtitled "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Pandemic") or writer and NPR commentator Andrei Codrescu reading from his "impractical handbook" for modern living, The Posthuman Dada Guide. This one is subtitled: "Tzara and Lenin play chess," is arranged alphabetically, and comes with the warning, "It is not advisable, nor was it ever, to lead a Dada life."

7:30 p.m. // Town Hall, Eighth & Seneca // Tickets: $5

ALT-GLAM ROCK: What can be said about The Killers that hasn't been said? What can be read about The Killers that hasn't been read? "Supersize, sparkly and over-the-top," says RS. "Histrionic Vegas rockers," sighs Pitchfork. If you like your bubble gum to pop, The Killers come through.

8 p.m. // WaMu Theater, 800 Occidental Avenue South // Ticketmaster: $33 and up

A few Seattle performances back, when John Doe was in the middle of inter-song patter, he suddenly shifted gears from whatever he was rambling about and said "Don't the Killers just suck?" A big round of cheers from the crowd.

Sorry, I get a tad excited when the comment box doesn't have a word limit =)

How about this: "I'm not saying that The Killers career arc is headed in the wrong direction but when compared to their new terrible album I would say that their last album, 'Sam's Town', ranks somewhere between Led Zeppelin IV and Jimi Hendrix - Axis Bold as Love... and I used their last album as a coaster for two months before I threw it away for making my drinks taste like over-produced, underthought-out crap." Has that been said?

It's been said now! A little wordy, or I'd include it in the post. ;)
