Fair and Balanced: Kudos to the City

We've been hammering rather bluntly at city services, so we thought to relate recent instances where they've gotten it right, for fairness' sake. Add yours in the comments, should you feel so inspired.

Getting it right, Case #1: After the Snowpocalypse, three gnarly potholes developed on the residential street we drive down whenever we leave or return to our home. Said potholes got deeper and deeper, and more challenging for the limited shock-absorption capability of our 1999 Saturn, until we thought: "Hey, why don't we call the city and ask them to fix the potholes?" Actually, you don't have to call them, we reported the pothole online and avoided the indignity of speaking to a city employee. Two mornings later, we noticed that our teeth hadn't whapped together on our way to work--Behold! The potholes were gone! Hooray, city!

Getting it right (ish), Case #2: We got a new debit card recently. (We'll pause to wait for your excitement to die down...) Works fine, except at those parking pay stations. "Invalid card," the green box tells us. We called the city to see what the deal was, the lady who answered said she'd look into it and call back. "Suuuuure you will," we thought, and went about our day, not expecting to hear from the city until the Savage administration. But lo! Not five minutes later, the sounds of "Whatever You Like" by T.I. emanated from our celly. (We like ringtones that give us street cred.) It was the city parking lady, calling back to say that she didn't know what the hell was up (not her exact words) and that we should call our bank about it. Not what we wanted to hear, but we appreciate the callback!

Getting it right, Case #3: Driving a friend home to the very depths of the Wedgwood wedge late one night, we approached the stoplight at 65th Street and 25th Avenue NE. This intersection, which during daylight hours is clogged with wealthy people on their way to the U Village Coach store, is practically deserted at night, as all the wealthy people are fast asleep, clutching their newly-purchased clutches. The city transportation department has therefore made this intersection a four-way stop during such slow times. Instead of idling at the light, wasting precious time and fossil fuels, you can California stop that baby and roll on through (not recommended). Well done, city!
