Detroit 8, Mariners 2

Carlos Silva drops to 4-17 as a Mariner; he allows four runs in five innings. The bullpen fails to keep things close, as Miguel Batista allows three runs in an inning (all were unearned, due to errors on consecutive grounders by Yuniesky Betancourt). 20-year-old sinkerballer Rick Porcello earns his first MLB win over the M's, who ground into two double plays. Next game: Tuesday vs. Devil Rays, 7:10 p.m., Jarrod Washburn vs. Andy Sonnanstine.

Tigers used a pretty steady diet of fastballs on Griffey the whole series. He's getting around on them, just not hitting them solid. Still love that swing, though.

Yea! I love my Tigers... Remember last yr when the Tigers took the M's to 15 innings and finally beat them when the M's had to send in their catcher to play pitcher? Ahhh, yes, good times.

P.S. Curtis Granderson is so hot.

Easily the worst game for the M's this year. No buzz at the ballpark, until the late lame rally in the 8th, ended by Griffey hitting a weak grounder to second. Get used to that story, folks - mark my words, we'll be dreading his coming to plate.
