Pastor Ken Hutcherson Can't Even Shut the Fuck Up for "Day of Silence"

Students in thousands of schools across the nation today (including over 150 schools in Washington) are participating in what has become an annual "Day of Silence," in which the participating students do not talk unless addressed by a teacher.

The peaceful demonstration represents the silence many gay and lesbian students feel they must maintain to avoid harassment and bullying at school. Students pass out cards to their friends, explaining their silence. Some wear armbands or buttons or even go so far as to wear duct tape over their mouths.

This year, as with last year, Redmond's resident bigot and megalomaniac, Pastor Ken Hutcherson, is mouthing off about it.

Via Seattle Times:

...although Hutcherson isn't planning a rally this year, he is encouraging Snoqualmie parents to keep their kids out of school today, and has taken out a full-page ad in the local newspaper imploring them to do so.
Hutch isn't the only one, of course.

"We feel it's wrong," said Faith & Freedom president Gary Randall. "It indoctrinates students in a subtle way, and it does disrupt the classroom."

Really? A disruption? We're sure the people the following statistics are based on are very sorry for the disruption.

Gay, lesbian & bisexual youth represent 30% of all teen suicides. (Thomas Marino, Counseling Today, May, 1995)

Gay, lesbian & bisexual youth are more likely to have attempted suicide than their straight peers. (U.S. government survey, 1995, and a report from Harvard Medical School, the Mass. Dept. of Education, and Wake Forest University, 1998)

Gay, lesbian & bisexual youth represent 25% of all homeless youth in the U.S. (U.S. Department of Health Services, 1989)

28% of gay/lesbian youth are forced to drop out of school because of their sexuality. (National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, 1998)

The average high school student in the U.S. hears anti-gay slurs 25 times per day. (Massachusetts Department of Education, 1994)

1 out of 6 gay teens has been beaten badly enough to require medical attention. (Center for Disease Control)

You just keep on speaking out against awareness of these hateful actions, Hutcherson. Better yet, why don't you and Mr. Randall and all the rest of your fuckwit friends take another cruise together?

You lamebrained, blockheaded, ignorant dolt.

Well, Jack, to be fair, it only costs like $5 to get a full page ad in the Times now.

C'mon the "Day of Silence" stupidity is almost as idiotic as this pastor and his fundie flock.

Who in the fuck spends high school in silence with tape over their mouths to celebrate gays and lesbians? I have no problems with either group. Trannies kinda freak me out because when I was in the service there was this one time in Bangkok that...never mind. Hell I love me some lesbians and welcome more gay dudes (just more females for the rest of us).

"Yeah maaan, 2nd period history maaaan...I'm protesting the 'man' while creating a new para-dig-em maaaaaan. I'm taping my pie-hole in unity maaaaan, then I'm taping my eye's maaaaan 'cause I don't wanna see it maaaaaan and plugging my ears 'cause I don't wanna hear man. I reject this whole sick so-cy-O-tee maaaan.

Besides there's always fat people to badger.

Where's my Peruvian wool cap maaaaaan, let's take my mom's Saab maaaaaan, go downtown wear shirts that have ironic phrases on them and make fun of people maaaaaan. "

Perhaps the fundie pastor and his Satan rebuking flock can meet the 'silent protest' crew and 'have it out' gang style? Subarus and Saabs, Mini-vans and pick-ups all converging on Safeco Field. And it all ends up in some epic "Aristocrats" type scenario.
