Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, April 10-12
MORE HORNS: If there's one motto consistent through the years of this Seattlest's life, it's "More horns!" It's similar to "More Cowbell," but inclusive of such excellent instruments as the trumpet, the french horn, the tuba, and--our favorite--the trombone. That's why we're recommending you attend HonkFest West this weekend, a three-day event in Ballard and Georgetown dedicated to horns and drums. See the schedule here.
7 - 12 p.m., Friday-Sunday // Various Venues // $10-$20 DOS
THERMAL GIRLS: That is to say, the Thermals and the Parenthetical Girls--two undeniably rockin' Northwest bands--join forces on Saturday at Neumos for what should be a kickass show to celebrate the Thermals' album release. Joining them is Panther, who we're sure also rocks hard but whom we've never seen. Go to Neumos, drink your tallboys, see a great show, then head to Rancho Bravo for a few fantastic late night tacos.
8 p.m., Saturday // Neumos // $15adv
BLUE MOON, YOU SAW ME STANDING ALONE: The Blue Moon Tavern has always been there for us when we needed whiskey and damn good local rock. It will be there for us this weekend, 75 years strong, for this weekend's installment of its anniversary show (presented by Sound on the Sound): The Whore Moans, Thee Emergency, Hopscotch Boys, and High Class Wreckage. Hell yeah.
9 p.m., Saturday // Blue Moon // $7 // 21+
