Get Out Tonight: Gui Boratto @ Nectar

GuiBoratto.jpg Gui Boratto's latest album, Take My Breath Away, is another entry marking the fortunate shift away from the strict confines of dancefoor-ready techno into more indie-friendly territory. Like recent albums from Telefon Tel Aviv, School of Seven Bells, and the less-recent full-length from Matthew Dear, the Brazilian Gui Boratto incorporates influences from outside the traditional confines of Berlin and Detroit.

Instead of an album of just club bangers, Take My Breath Away includes tracks like "Besides," an entrant on some fictional update to the Cure's Disintegration, and "No Turning Back," a driving track propelled as much by the filtered guitars and vocals as the gently throbbing beat. Gui Boratto's latest has something for both techno diehards and indie enthusiasts, and tonight's appearance at Nectar is your chance to hear it all live. If you aren't sold yet, you can get a preview of the show today on KEXP (which has Boratto in regular rotation).
