Get Out Thursday: Dead Poets Society @ Hugo House

For those of you who didn't know, April is not only about Easter and April Fool's Day; it's also National Poetry Month!

Brian McGuigan will be playing a proletarian souse.
To help celebrate, Hugo House is hosting Dead Poets Society, on Thursday, April 9. Local poets and Hugo House friends will be portraying--in full costume--famous (or infamous) dead poets: Charles Bukowski (Brian McGuigan), Langston Hughes (Storme Webber), Sylvia Plath (Kate Lebo), T.S. Eliot (Jeremy Richards), and Gertrude Stein (Felicia Gonzalez). Where else will you see the best impersonation ever of one of these much-loved poets? Maybe Bukowski will even be sober enough to finish his reading this time around.

In line with Hugo House's mission of supporting new work, the dead/live poets will also be reading one original poem they have written in response to a work or the life of their chosen writer.

7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9 // Hugo House // 1634 11th Ave // Tickets: $12; $6 for Hugo House members, seniors, or students
