Seattle's First Hybrid Priest Defrocked
Remember Seattle's Episcopalian priest, Ann Holmes Redding, who claimed she could be both Muslim and Christian? This morning, Redding was officially defrocked, or "fired," if you will, by the national Episcopalian church after a years-long scandal over her unorthodox theological views. Redding celebrated her 25th ordination anniversary this year.
What's next for Redding? Will she further embrace the Muslim community, or continue her work as an advocate for a type of religion without borders? We've never been able to quite grok her imprecise, blatantly contradictory religious perspective, but that right there is the glory and the fascination of the story. Thank god she's already working on her memoirs. Has anyone read her recently published spiritual guidance book yet? Is it any good?
