Dear Seattle Utilities...

...why have three recycling trucks been parking and driving around in circles in front of our house all day?

It's not that we oppose recycling or anything, it's just that Thomas St. is cobblestone, so they're not exactly quiet coming up the hill, and since they're constantly parking in loading zones and bus stops, there's that big-truck-in-reverse sound bleeting out every fifteen to thirty minutes. Honestly, it's driving us batty.

y'know on monday i swear the same thing happened to us...it was our recycling/yard waste day (as it has been forever - we were some of the lucky 30-40% of households whose collection day didn't change) but i heard their backing-up beeping almost constantly that day it seemed.

dunno if they have new drivers on the routes and they felt they needed to learn the streets the first time around, or if they were trying to remind ppl of their collection day, or what. but it was odd.

Same thing in our hood on Monday....and they didn't even bother to pick up ANYTHING on our entire street. WTF were they doing all day?

This contractor just started servicing the city on Monday. They have all new employees, new routes, and new trucks. Give them some time to figure things out...the transition is actually going very well overall.

Same thing was going on in my area on Monday (other contractor though), they are just trying to get used to the new routes / services.
