Can't Miss It: Tuesday
FROM THE PAGE: This season's Book-It Repertory Theatre production is an adaption of Dinaw Mengestu's The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears, which was the 2008 Seattle Reads pick. Tonight, the good Book-It people are hosting their regular forum, From The Page To The Stage, to give Seattleites a free preview of and background for the upcoming production. The show itself opens on April 14.

A BAND YOU SHOULD SEE: According to Seattlest Kim, Great Lake Swimmers have been much buzzed about since SXSW. Billed as "melodic folk rock" on the Tractor calendar ("that's pretty much accurate," Kim says), they veer towards a minimalist, sparse Americana sound that might just be the next big thing. See them with Kate Maki and Hazelwood Motel tonight for only $12 and be ahead of the curve.

PELICANS OF METAL: Over at Neumos, catch stoner metal rockers Pelican with Wolves In The Stone Room and other kickass bands. According to Pelican, their latest album establishes them as "an inimitable force of nature, soaring skyward in triumph toward some celestial nadir, shepherding out the frost with a wash of seismic rumblings." Rad.
