Jimi Hendrix's Childhood Home Likely To Be Demolished

The current owner of Jimi Hendrix's childhood home has the little house resting on a foundation in a Renton mobile home park across the street from the musician's grave. Next week, however, is the final deadline for the owner, Pete Sikov, to come up with money, a plan, and a convincing argument for how he can meet City of Renton requirements to renovate the house appropriately; otherwise, he'll have to tear it down.

Sikov has repeatedly failed to follow through on his plans to turn the house into a up-to-code Hendrix museum of sorts. Says the man melodramatically, "If the city would like to see the house saved, I am happy to participate. Otherwise, by next week the Hendrix House will be gone forever." Dun dun dun. As much as we truly respect Jimi Hendrix's legacy, Seattlest feels no need to see the man's childhood house, especially plopped in the middle of a trailer park in Renton. It's a nice thought, but you're probably better off honoring the man's tradition by listening to...say...his music. Or watching the unofficial Jimi Hendrix sex tape.

Or you can have a beer at his grave site and leave the empty there!
