Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, March 27-29
DOWN ON THE CORNER: The Corner, our favorite one monthly live hiphop night down at the Rendezvous, has its one-year anniversary tonight. (Already?!) As usual, Oldominioner Candidt has put together a stellar line-up: JFK of Grayskul, Silent Lambs Project with Lisa Loud, and UW reps Rudy & The Rhetoric; he'll also throw in a set of his own. So solid. We've been looking forward to this for months now!
10:30 p.m., Friday // Rendezvous // $5 // 21+
GALA FOR THE ARTS: Washington Ensemble Theatre's 5th Annual Gala & Auction has a "Southern coming out party" theme this year; the swanky affair involves performances, an abundant free flow of beer and wine, live and silent auctions, and an after-party called The Dirty Debutante's Ball (!) where carnival-minded sextet The Bad Things will play. (You can also just pay to go to the afterparty, which starts at 10 p.m.) Charming!
6 p.m., Saturday // ACT Bullitt Cabaret // $40adv, $50 DOS // 21+
DANCE ME TO THE MOON: The students at Spectrum Dance Theater's Academy along with some of the company members are performing twice this weekend in Madrona, featuring choreography from the famous Donald Byrd and Eva Stone among others. Come out to support the students and to see beautiful dance, and then go out to dinner after and be grateful the dancers are the ones who have to diet all the time.
7:30 p.m., Saturday & 5 p.m., Sunday // Madrona Dance Studio, 800 Lake Washington Blvd. // $12adv, $14 DOS
