Iceland's Blue Lagoon
As of July 22, Icelandair will be offering four direct flights per week between Seattle and Reykjavik, says the Puget Sound Business Journal: "Flights from Reykjavik will be on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and flights from Seattle will be on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday."
They'll be using Boeing 757s on the route, which will connect to various European destinations. Icelandair has a cool "StopOver" package if you're flying them to Europe: you can tour Reykjavik for a few days for no additional airfare. (We've seen 4-7 days quoted as the length of stopover time, so check.)
We saw a good deal of the southwest of Iceland in just four days last fall [Flickr photoset], so if you don't even have to stay in Reykjavik the whole time--though if pub crawls are your thing, Reykjavik will bring tears of joy to your eyes. And don't forget to drop in at the Blue Lagoon on your way to the Keflavik airport.

Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday

My girlfriend and I are taking a trip to Iceland just before this new service starts. In fact we bought the tickets Friday. Had I known, we would have changed our dates.
Without a direct flight, getting home without an overnight stay was hard to do, so we had to use a travel agent and pay extra.
Oh well. There's always next time.
