Washington vs. Misssissisipppsissppi State Preview

March Madness.JPG It’s the best thirty-six hours of the year, and for Husky fans the two most stressful will start around 2 p.m. when #4-seed UDub faces #13-seed Mississippi State down in Portland.

This week we’ve helped you fill out your bracket, introduced you to the university behind the opponent, and explained why all those Olympia fat cats may have ruined the Tournament before it began. Following these links we have analysis from our field of experts.

Sports NW Seth previews the West Region for Storming the Floor.

The Times’ Bob Condotta is picking the Huskies, and has been updating his fabulous Husky blog all week.

Hotdog and Friends brilliantly explains why "trying to run with the Dawgs is like trying to shoot heroin for the first time with Lou Reed."

Deadspin’s UW vs. MSU pants party preview, chock full of fun facts, is here.

ESPN’s Andy Katz previews the West Region. CBS/CNNSI’s Seth Davis has Washington listed as his sleeper team in the West. His co-anchor at CBS, Greg Anthony, picked Mississippi State as his West sleeper.

Sports Illustrated has six regional covers: the West Coast edition features point guard Isaiah Thomas, while Rainer Beach product Terrance Williams is on the South’s version.

And now our college basketball experts weigh in on the game:

Jason (College Basketball Expert): This game comes down to Jarvis Varnado "a freak athlete with a God given talent to block shots" versus Jon Brockman "a guy who works really hard," which means that Brockman will be a nonfactor on offense. BOX OUT JON!!!! It's on Quincy to hit open 15-footers, Dentmon to find the range on 3-pointers, and Venoy to get Bost out of his game. If those things happen and IT does his usual, the Dawgs will cruise.

Drew (College Basketball Expert): Miss St's 11-point loss at Wazzu in November has put me at ease. Washington obviously has the toughest 4-13 match-up in the tournament; the Vegas oddsmakers think so too. Sure Varnado will get his blocks, but the Huskies have shown that they can get points from all positions if necessary. Also, the cross-country trip will hopefully hurt MSU and having what should be a UW-friendly crowd (come on, Gonzaga fans!) will be a big key for the Huskies. In the end, it will be VarnaDON'T! Huskies advance!

Dusty (College Basketball Expert): Seriously, what does the last sentence from CNNSI even mean?
cnnsi preview.jpg Is there an SNL or Blue Oyster Cult or Christopher Walken reference earlier that I’m not getting?
