Can't Miss It: Wednesday
WRITERS GROUP: It's a daylight meetup of the Seattle Writers Group. They're gathering at Greenlake's Revolutions Espresso (across the street from Gregg's Greenlake Cycle) for 45 minutes of writing followed by 15 of discussion. Here is the thing that will help set your writing career on the path: "onsite bakery." It's sort of an insider's thing but behind every great writer is a choice pastry. Joyce=scone with currants and orange peel. True story.
2 p.m. // Revolutions Espresso, 7012 Woodlawn Ave NE // FREE
FRANCO-CLASSICO-JAZZ: The Ebene Quartet (if we were typing this on our Mac that accent grave would have been easy but we're not so screw it) is visiting Benaroya and they are French and cool like you wouldn't believe. The New York Times says they are "spirited and consistently inventive." Consistently! Also could you be lucky enough to catch this: "As an encore the four musicians stood together at the center of the stage and sang (in French) a richly harmonized version of 'Someday My Prince Will Come.'"
7:30 p.m. // Benaroya Hall, 200 University Street // Tickets: $35
BICOOKING CLASS: That turns out not to mean what we thought it meant. The "B" and "I" stand for Bainbridge Island. Take un bateau across the le son de Puget, and spend the evening at a French bistro cooking class: "Along with paired french wines the menu will consist of : French Onion Soup Gratinee Salad of Greens, Walnuts, Roasted Beets and Port Madison Chévre Wine Braised Short Ribs,, Salmon en Papillote Celery Root Mashed Potatoes And a Fabulous French Dessert." That sounds delicious, and even if you learn nothing, you still get to eat it, right? There are only two places left though!
6-9 p.m. // Island Cooking, 5402 Rockaway Beach Road NE // $68 per person
