Things over at the Slog are currently retarded--and we mean that in the clinical sense of the word. We suggest you avoid the site entirely until further notice.

A Note to Audrey:
I didn't heed your advice. My brain matter has been significantly retarded.
I was just about to post something along these lines. Wow. Let's do this at Seattlest for April Fools Day!
Did Danny boy seriously link to a week old video?
Lame!
It has nothing to do with Seattle...
Seriously, wtf are they highlighting with the bolds. The puzzler in me wants to see if it spells out some secret message. All I got before I gave up was "Now and Laters silver balls"
On the plus side, they can now post a note to readers explaining how they stole my five minutes.
I have hundreds more quips.
this is news? Aren't they always retarded over there? I thought that was their shtick.
Seattlest seems overly obsessed with all things Slog/Stranger.
1) I can't stand the use of the world "retarded"--my brother's autistic and growing up I heard all the variations on it that I care to.
2) The plus side of the Slog losing out to the winged monkey brigade is that I finally kicked them off my RSS feed. The signal-to-noise ratio has been growing the wrong direction for some time, but I stuck around out of habit. I'll miss Mudede the most, of course.
I kicked them out of my RSS feed long ago and haven't looked back since.
I really thought that it couldn't get stupider than the series of pathetic commenters showing off their knowledge of a misdemeanor court hearing, but then they went and proved me wrong.
I switched to keeping only their "city" feed (1-2 posts per day) in my regularly-checked RSS a couple months ago.
i stopped reading it over a year ago, and refuse to visit. so for those of us who don't want to visit the site, what's the fuss about?
In brief: Seattle Weekly finds out Stranger's ECB has personal business in court, posts info on it. Troll brigade shows up at Slog demanding "transparency," hijacking all comment threads for the past few days. Today ECB admits--A Note to Our Readers--she was in court, Stranger staff files million Notes to Readers of their own in solidarity. Net: trolls still trolls, readers screwed.
eef.
MvB, I think the only time a person should use "retarded" is when not dealing with a person(ification). As in, flame retardant.
In addition, you may find this series of PSA for the Special Olympics interesting:

The last is my favorite to really illustrate the strength of that word when used against/towards a person.
