It's GoTime for Seattle Nightlife
Thanks, everyone who came out to the Seattlest Happy Hour at Zig Zag last night--and thanks to Ben and Autumn for pouring drinks down our thirsty gullets. We had a chance to order an Aviation, which we wanted ever since we read about creme de violette in The Atlantic. It may be impossible to convey in words how cool you feel drinking a slightly purple drink called Aviation.
GoTime's Happy Hour iPhone application
It may seem incredible to you--as it did to us--that someone would set themselves the task of collecting all the happy hours of Seattle, but that's what GoTime has done. We've downloaded their iPhone Happy Hour app, which tells us what's happy near our location (as of this moment, Broadway Grill's 2-6 p.m. and the Deluxe's 3-6 p.m.) Yes, you can shake it.
You can also pick a location, if you're headed to, say, Alki for the night. Or a time, if you're headed there tomorrow night. And most importantly, if you spot a mistake or update needed, you can let GoTime know right from your phone. Why should anyone else suffer the heartbreak of arriving too late for happy hour?
But GoTime the nightlife site is more full-featured. Besides hours (happy or otherwise), place to eat and drink, and events, it has a social networking side, half-Yelp, half-Upcoming, half-Facebook...wait, that's too many halves. Anyway, you can rate your favorite bars, or invite your friends out for a night on the town. We are not top-notch social networkers so we are not sure how much we'll use this part--it took us years to admit Facebook existed and mainly we play a Scrabble-knockoff on it--but this should be right up the 24-hour party people's alley.
