IF RAP GETS JEALOUS: Somalian-American hiphop artist K'naan brings his passionate, political flavor of hiphop to the city tonight, and you should be there to experience it if that sounds up your alley. He's phenomenal, you should know, if that helps to sway you towards heading to Neumos tonight. Opening for him is Ethiopian-American local emcee Gabriel Teodros, who never ever fails to convincingly call us towards a better life with his sincere and listenable rhyme, and the gorgeous and talented YZE. Get there.
8 p.m. // Neumos // $10adv
RISK MANAGEMENT: Over at Town Hall, Ian Bremmer will be lecturing on how to assess and "manage" (that's the mysterious part) dangerous and delicate global politics in order to do better business. You may have read Bremmer's book, The Fat Tail, on the same subject; if you're a fan, you won't want to miss his speech.
6:30 p.m. // Town Hall // $5
HALF OF THE BLACK KEYS, ANYWAY: Dan Auerbach, guitarist and vocalist for the tremendously rockin' band The Black Keys, will perform some of his solo material tonight at the Showbox. Apart from his music (which he describes as "psychedelia, soul music, loud and soft guitars"), he has a beard--so Seattle will love him.
8 p.m. // Showbox At The Market // $22DOS
