Seattle Has Priorities And Priorities

The housing market might be crashing, the sky crumbling (oh...that's snow, you say?), and layoffs increasing, but don't worry: along with the booze biz, the tattoo industry here in Seattle is doing just fine. That doesn't really make sense to us except in conjunction with the liquor sales increase. People get laid off, get drunk, get a tattoo: it's a time-honored tradition.

  • This is interesting. My parents have recently invested in an "upscale" tattoo/body modification place in Boise. At first, I wondered who on Earth would spend money on these things in a depressed economy? And more so, who on Earth would invest in it...especially my parents??? But it seems her business is actually doing pretty well. Being co-sponsored by Harley Davidson probably helps, too.

While I'm not into body art, myself, I've dated and known people who got more work done when they were frustrated or depressed as somewhat of a means of therapy. I'm sure it's as physical as it is psychological. Perhaps the endorphin rush and the feeling that you're actually in control of something have to do with it?

But really, my ignorant self is putting words in the mouths of the truly body modded. Anyone care to chime in with their experience or thoughts?

The booze industry doing well in hard times is a no brainer.
