Stalk Of The Town

Seattlest's wine guy, Ronald, kicks off the weekend by hosting a $75, 5-course, 5-wine wine dinner Friday at Portfolio, the dining room of the Art Institute's culinary academy. (Note: 20 percent discount to Seattlest readers; call 206-239-2363 for reservations.) Saturday night will find him, Barolo in hand, at Mitchelli's for a farewell toast to the venerable "Trat," closing later this month after 32 years in Pioneer Square.

Jack has exactly one thing planned this weekend: to go to the Cinerama Saturday night to see Watchmen. No, The Stranger's incessant whining about how it's not going to be as good as the book will not dissuade him. And no, he will not read Paul Constant's review until after he's seen it for himself.

One week back from Turkey and Greece, and Katelyn is just about ready for a weekend again. She might do something really ambitious like walk to Dick's on Broadway for the cheeseburgers she's been craving for a few days, or--depending on the weather--she'll settle for tackling the remainder of Kazantzakis' Report To Greco. You might find her at the Grieves show at Nectar on Saturday, too.

MvB is getting his locks trimmed at Salon Moxi, finally, so you can stop with the "dirty hippie" jokes now. And he'll dress all in black and go see that Rem Koolhaas documentary at the Northwest Film Forum.

James is celebrating his anniversary (11 years!) Saturday night with dinner at Zoe with his lovely wife...and lovely 3-year-old daughter, who claims that Zoe is her favorite restaurant. Watchmen? Maybe Sunday.

Jay has stepped off his sixth plane of the week. He's going to rest his mind and stomach before being a judge at Cochon 555, which will feature five chefs, five heritage pigs, and five winemakers in a snout-to-tail extravaganza!

Audrey's weekend will involve M. Ward, The Class, and Five Easy Pieces. As to Watchmen? Hell to the no. Suck it, nerds!
